When the Lord commanded Abraham to offer Isaac—his son, the very child through whom God’s covenant would be fulfilled—it did not make sense to him. Yet Abraham obeyed. It was a test of faith, revealing whether Abraham loved God more than the promise he had received. Abraham passed the test, and God released His blessing.
May we have that same kind of faith—the faith to let go of even the most valuable things in our lives simply because God commands us to. May we trust Him enough to obey, even when His commands do not make sense to us sometimes. For we know that His ways are higher, and His plans are far better than our own. His ways are higher, and His plans are far better than our own. Always.
May we have the faith to let go of our Isaac—whether it is a person, a habit, a dream, or a career—anything so precious to us that God wants us to place on the altar.
You may not understand right now, but someday you will—and it will be worth it.
Sometimes faith isn’t about receiving—it’s about releasing.
