Do not listen to their judgment or assumptions about you; your gentle nature doesn’t make you any less of a man. Well, that trait was actually one of the pleasing merits you have that I found irresistible. You are one of the few people who scarcely think that I am cold-blooded in spite of being nonchalant. So, darling, don’t be afraid or doubt. Their criticism doesn’t emasculate you; you are an agreeable man from my point of view. A male in nature only becomes a man when a woman tells him he is a man.
When I first saw you, I won’t deny the fact that I also thought of what other people usually think of you. That was what I thought initially. But as time goes by and I get to know you better, my idea of you changes. You are not like what they said you were. You are not like those, who, I surmised, are conceited dudes, which I highly detest. Your being embodies gentleness and sensitivity. You are a fine human indeed. Who would have thought that one individual could possess all positive complaisance? And from that, I would say, you really are something.
